ensure ONGOING accurate weighing

We understand the challenge of weighing heavy containers. And we also recognise the challenge of calibrating and servicing heavy-duty weighing equipment.

With this in mind, we developed a calibration kit, allowing you to affordably own and independently maintain the most versatile container weighing system on the market today.

Our Calibration Kit allows you to check the calibration of your BISON container weighing scales at any time, giving you full confidence that your readings are accurate and true.

A smart phone App guides you through the quick and easy process. It automatically makes any necessary adjustments to the calibration of your BISON container scales. Taking only a few minutes per scale, the result is peace of mind, knowing you can trust that your readings accurate to within 1%.

Packed in a robust carry-case, the Calibration Kit is the ideal accessory for your C-Jacks or C-Legs.

By doing the calibration yourself, you:

  • Avoid sending your scales off-site to be calibrated, saving valuable time and third party weighing options
  • Have control of the calibration process
  • Can check the calibration at any time, as often as you want
  • Avoid the cost of getting your calibration done externally
  • Can use an accurately weighed container to check the read-outs on your cranes and other container handling equipment

Calibration Made Easy with the BISON Config App

The process of checking and calibrating your BISON scales is made easy with the BISON Config App. In addition to calibration, there are additional features to help you configure and maintain your scales. The App's intuitive interface provides you with the following functions:

The data from your scales provides the first clue about how they're performing. With the Diagnostic feature in the App you can check the key data from your scales and capture it in an email. This information can be useful for BISON's technicians to help you with remotely diagnosing any problems you may be experiencing.

Auto-configure allows you to apply any changes made remotely by BISON's technicians onto your scales. You can download and apply any changes to your scales at your convenience, using the Auto-Configure feature on the App. No matter your location and time zone, as long as there's internet connection, BISON will help you keep running.

Calibrate Zero

The knocks and bumps of handling heavy containers can push the zero off. A short press on the yellow button each time you use the scale will manually re- set the zero, but if you want to adjust it permanently back to zero, the App provides an easy way to do this.

The Calibrate feature guides you through the process of checking the scales' calibration and applying an adjustment if it is required. It's a very straightforward operation and only takes a few minutes.

  • What's in the Calibration Kit?

    The C-Kit comes with:

    • 1 x Calibration Module
    • 1 x Digital Indicator
    • 1 x Bubble level BISON Config App
  • How does Calibration work?

The calibration is simply made by comparing the reading from your container weighing scale with the Calibration Module. Weight is applied simultaneously to the Calibration Module and the scale using the corner of a container, and the readings from both are compared. If they are different, the scale is adjusted by the Config App to match the reading from the Calibration Module. The process is repeated with each of the four container scales in the set.

  • How heavy does the container need to be?

The weight of the container should ideally be over 12 tonne (26,000 lbs) for the load on the Calibration Module and scale to be significant enough to see a discernible difference. But the precise weight of the container is not important, as the Calibration Module provides the reference value.

  • What is the level of accuracy achieved with the Calibration Kit?

Your container weighing scales will read within 1% of perfect after calibration with the Calibration Kit. This level of accuracy is generally sufficient for most container weighing applications. However, if the container scales need to be verified as legal for trade, an accuracy tolerance of 0.2% can be achieved by fine-tuning the calibration with certified test weights.

  • How frequently should I re-calibrate my BISON Scales?

BISON recommends to have your container scales checked at least annually, but there are circumstances that make this more or less frequent. Calibration can be affected by overloading, and even bumps and knocks. This is often unintentional and even unavoidable in the rugged environment that containers need to be weighed. If your scales are often used to weigh heavy containers, then their calibration should be checked more frequently than if the scales are seldom used, or if they're used weigh light containers. It also depends on how critical accuracy is to your operations. With your own Calibration Kit you can check as often as you wish.

  • How reliable is the accuracy of the Calibration Kit?

The Calibration Kit has been calibrated in an accredited laboratory and has a fully traceable certificate of calibration. If protected from impacts and overloads, the Calibration Kit can be relied upon to remain true, unlike the container weighing scales which are regularly exposed to the heavy-duty rigours of container weighing. The accuracy of the Calibration Kit can be checked and confirmed periodically in the laboratory. BISON recommends this is done every two years, but it may be more or less frequent, depending on how critical accuracy is to your operations, and how often the Calibration Kit is used.
