What is calibration?

Calibration is a comparison between a known measurement (the standard) and the measurement using your instrument.

Why is calibration is important?

Calibration is important for a number of reasons:

  • Ensure readings from an instrument are consistent with other measurements
  • Determine the accuracy of the instrument readings
  • Establish the reliability of the instrument i.e. that it can be trusted
When should I calibrate my BISON Scales?

How frequently your BISON Container Scales need re-calibrating will depend on how heavily the scales are used. The calibration can be affected if the scales are overloaded or exposed to shock loading. We recommend undertaking an annual calibration check.

How do I calibrate my BISON Scales?

You can either return your scales to BISON or your local BISON representative for re-calibration. Alternatively, you can easily calibrate your scales yourself using BISON’s Calibration Rig that is available for purchase or hire in some regions.

The Calibration Rig and Configuration App provides an easy and reliable way to make sure your BISON Scales are reading accurately. The accuracy tolerance from this method of calibration is better than 1%. Watch the short video below to find out how to calibrate your scales from anywhere and anytime.

In some countries, BISON Scales need to be “trade approved” for use. BISON has a network of representatives around the world who can assist you with the verification test needed for trade approval. The calibration of your BISON Scales can be fine tuned to an accuracy tolerance of less than 0.2%.

How To Calibrate Your Scales

The calibration rig can be purchased, or contact BISON to enquire whether there is a calibration rig available for hire in your region.
